About Us

GeoAI seeks to endow machines with the capability to learn, reason, and analyze geospatial information similarly to humans. Although significant strides have been made, GeoAI is still in its formative stage. It traditionally emphasizes knowledge-based approaches, rooted in Geographical Information Science (GIScience), a discipline that intersects computer science, social science, and natural science, focusing on geospatial information and its comprehensive understanding, representation, and analysis. As the domain of AI evolves, data-driven methodologies have become increasingly prevalent in GeoAI. Our research center is committed to exploring both knowledge-based and data-driven approaches within GeoAI, including the pioneering development of hybrid models that leverage the strengths of both. This initiative aims to bring together experts, researchers, and enthusiasts from diverse fields to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive forward the frontiers of GeoAI research.
